Rachel Comey, Alexander Wang Sample Sales: NYC July 2009

Rachel Comey and Alexander Wang are two of the designers I would sell my left arm to obtain clothing from, but alas my tiny NYC PR salary does not allow me to run rampant through 5F. ENTER: Sample sales, my only hope.

Here are the dets:
7/9–7/11 Find deep discounts at the Alexander Wang sample sale. The denim-and-black-leather motorcycle jacket is $745 (originally $1,495) and the fitted stretch-and-mesh combo dress is $395 (originally $795). 83 Wooster St., nr. Spring St.; Th (2–8), F (9–8), S (10–7).

7/8-7/11 Coveted clog sandals for $150, silk print dresses for $165, and men’s shoes for $150 at Rachel Comey. 335 W. 35th Street, between Eighth & Ninth Avenues., 7th floor; Wed-Th (5-9pm), F (11-7), S (12-5)

The first Alexander Wang Sample Sale I attended was magical, much like my first kiss; illuminating, inspiring, delightfully surprising. However, viewing my credit card statement afterwards was perhaps more like my first experience being groped on the crowded 6 train on my way to work in the morning; upsetting, nauseating and left me wondering if venereal diseases are airborne (for the record, they are NOT). A. Wang has some of the most unique, hip items on the market right now, albeit wildly expensive, even at sample sale level.

I have never been to Rachel Comey but am checking out their wares with my fashion-obsessed-buyer friend from Bergdorf's and essentially do anything she tells me to in the realm of clothing, thus explaining the white leather leggings I bought at TopShop this spring (thanks, Jamie.) Will update tomorrow to let you know how it goes. I am praying Racked lineblogs the Alexander Wang sale tomorrow morning so we know what we are up against (let's be honest I would be there if I didn't have a small thing I like to call a j-o-b).
